Sam Usher spent most of his childhood in Hungerford reading, drawing and forgetting to do his schoolwork. He graduated from the University of West England and his debut picture book, Can You See Sassoon?, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the Children’s Book Award. He is particularly admired for his technical drawing skill and prowess with watercolour. He has since written and illustrated lots of other books working with many different people including Michael Morpurgo, Sam McBratney and Alexander McCall Smith.
Sam will be in the bookshop on Sunday December 1st at 11am reading from his ‘Grandad’ picture books, and also showing some live illustration. This is a free event but we guarantee you won’t resist being able to buy one of his beautiful books for Christmas.
