A partnership between The Hungerford Bookshop and Hungerford Primary School to foster a love of reading and develop links between the school and the bookshop.
Three exciting children’s authors are taking part in this new project.
Geraldine McCaughrean has written over 150 books for children. Pupils in year 3 will look at her book ‘Pittipat’s Saucer of Moon’. Gerladine McCaughrean will visit the school on Tuesday May 12th to lead story-making games.
Tracey Corderoy is an award-winning writer of books for young children. Selected years will explore ‘Hubble Bubble: The Pesky Pirate Prank’, then Tracey will will be performing her ‘magic workshops’ for all children in foundation, and years 1, 2 and 3 on June 3rd.
Josh Lacey is best known for his ‘Grk’ series. He is looking forward to responding personally to any questions the children have about his latest book, ‘The Dragonsitter’, and his other stories. His illustrator, Garry Parsons, will contribute a signed and personalised illustration as a prize for best artwork the children will be asked to create.
The bookshop is looking forward to attending an assembly after the project has finished and hosting an award ceromny (date tbc). Children’s artwork will be displayed in the shop, and we look forward to showing pupils around the bookshop. We hope this will encourahge a life-long love affair with reading.
