We are delighted to announce that the novelist Helen Simonson will be visiting the UK from America to promote her new novel ‘The Summer Before The War’ and that the Hungerford Bookshop will be part of her tour. We are very excited because a personal favourite of ours was the international best-seller ‘Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand’, which Alexander McCall Smith described as ‘ a beautiful little love story’ and The Times said ‘words cannot convey the slow-burning pleasure of this novel’.
“So vividly drawn it fairly vibrates…nothing short of a treasure.“: Paula McClain, The Paris Wife and Circling The Sun
“At once haunting and effervescent…the sure hand of a master“: Annie Barrows, The Truth According to Us and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Helen Simonson will be talking about her book and signing copies in the bookshop on Thursday 19th May at 7:30pm. Join us amongst the books with a glass or two of wine and a chance to chat to the author, then get ready to settle down for a really great read.
Tickets £6 (includes wine and £3 off the book)
